Divya Pillai’s OOzham
Divya Pillai might be just two films old but the actress could share screen space with Mollywood’s most talented -Fahadh Faasil in Ayal Njanalla and Prithviraj in the upcoming Oozham. Her relative inexperience has been a factor that has constantly challenged her, she says, especially when she’s up with actors who seem to have it all figured out.
On her working experience in Jeethu Joseph’s Oozham, Divya explains, “I was obviously nervous because I was working with the team for the first time. While Jeethuchettan was relaxed, I was initially struggling during my performance. When Prithvi noticed this, he took time to talk to me and only after that could I actually focus on the task at hand and get into the groove.“
Divya plays a character named Gayathri in the movie, which revolves around a group of people set out to take revenge on a common enemy . “She’s a college student who is modern and yet family-oriented. She is very attached to her brother played by Kishore Satya. But after a slew of incidents, her life takes a turn and she becomes this strong, bold character.“
The film was a “learning experience“ for Divya just like her previous venture Ayal Njanalla.“Like Fahadh, Prithvi was also very involved with the creative side and help co-stars improve their performances,“ the Dubai-based actress says. “They give you a lot of inputs on even minor facets such as which profile of yours is better and the right way to deliver a line so it registers better with the audience. I think those are the skills you develop with experience.“ The movie’s shooting had her travelling to Coimbatore, Hyderabad and Kochi. “It was a fun role to play but at the same time it wasn’t easy for me because I am still a beginner.Right now, I am waiting for Oozham to release, so I can judge myself as an actress before signing other projects.“
